Football’s most prestigious individual accolade, the Ballon d’Or, will be awarded on September 22, 2025, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. Organized by France Football, the ceremony promises to be a highly anticipated event, celebrating the best players of the 2024-2025 season.

A Night of Recognition and Celebration

Last year, the Ballon d’Or was claimed by Manchester City’s Spanish midfielder Rodri for the men’s category and FC Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmatí for the women’s category. This year, the competition is expected to be fierce, with football’s biggest stars vying for the coveted trophy.

For the first time in history, the Ballon d’Or ceremony will feature an equal number of awards for men and women. A total of 13 trophies will be presented, including:

  • Men’s and Women’s Ballon d’Or (Best Player)
  • Kopa Trophy (Best Young Player)
  • Yashin Trophy (Best Goalkeeper)
  • Gerd Müller Trophy (Best Goalscorer for club and country)
  • Johan Cruyff Trophy (Best Coach)
  • Club of the Year (Men’s and Women’s)
  • Sócrates Award (Recognizing social contributions in football)

This expansion reflects the growing recognition of women’s football and ensures that female players receive the same level of acknowledgment as their male counterparts.

With the nominees set to be announced in early August, speculation is already mounting over who will take home the top honors. Fans and analysts alike are debating potential winners, with Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé, and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah among the names being discussed.

The Ballon d’Or remains the ultimate individual recognition in world football, celebrating excellence both on and off the pitch. As the countdown to September 22 begins, the football world eagerly awaits another unforgettable night in Paris.
