I inspired Shatta Wale to do African Dancehall - Samini claims in bold revelation

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall icon Samini has made headlines after boldly claiming that he was the inspiration behind fellow dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale's decision to pursue African Dancehall as a genre.

In a recent interview, the "My Own" hitmaker stated that Shatta Wale, formerly known as Bandana, took a cue from his style and rise in the early 2000s to shape his own sound and career path.

"When you talk about African Dancehall, I pioneered that lane in Ghana. Shatta Wale was watching. He saw the movement, the energy, and the success. That inspired him to rebrand and follow that direction," Samini confidently said.

This revelation has sparked renewed conversations in the Ghanaian music industry, particularly between fans of both artistes. While Samini is credited with laying the foundation for dancehall in Ghana, Shatta Wale is widely regarded as the artist who helped commercialize and globalize the genre with a distinct African twist.

The long-standing rivalry between the two has seen numerous musical clashes, diss tracks, and public debates over who holds the dancehall crown.

However, this latest claim adds a fresh layer to the ongoing narrative about influence, legacy, and originality in Ghana's vir music scene.

Shatta Wale is yet to respond to Samini's remarks, but industry insiders anticipate a fiery reaction, given the competitive nature of the two artistes' history.

Fans across social media are already picking sides, with some praising Samini for paving the way, while others argue that Shatta Wale redefined the genre in his own right.

As the debate continues, one thing is certain — both artistes have played monumental roles in putting African Dancehall on the map.
